Our editorial policy. How DivTrkr content gets made.
When money is the subject, trust has to be earned. Here's exactly how our guides are researched, written, reviewed, and corrected.
Independent, and meant to stay that way
DivTrkr publishes guides to help dividend investors — beginners and veterans alike — understand how dividends actually work and make better-informed decisions. That's the whole job of our content.
Our editorial judgment is independent. Advertising, affiliate arrangements, or any commercial relationship never decides what we write, which strategies we describe favorably, or which risks we mention. If a topic deserves a caveat, it gets one — full stop. The day that stops being true, the content stops being worth reading.
Where the numbers come from
A guide is only as good as its sources. Ours start at the original document.
Primary sources
Company facts and dividend histories trace back to primary sources — SEC EDGAR filings and company investor-relations disclosures — rather than second-hand summaries.
Verified data
Market data, yields, and historical figures are cross-checked against established financial-data providers before a guide cites them.
Dated and reviewed
Tax brackets and market figures change. Each guide states when it was published, and we revisit content as rules and conditions move.
Illustrative examples — projections, sample portfolios, timelines — are labeled as such, with their assumptions stated. We never dress an assumption up as a guarantee.
What every guide is held to
A real person, a real byline
DivTrkr's Learn guides are written by Michael Velasco, a dividend investor of more than a decade who founded DivTrkr. Every guide carries his byline and a publication date, because you deserve to know who is explaining your money to you and when they wrote it.
Michael is not a registered financial advisor, and DivTrkr's content is not a substitute for one. What he offers is hands-on experience translated into plain language — the explanation a knowledgeable friend would give you, not a recommendation. You can read more about him on the about page .
An important line we won't blur
Everything DivTrkr publishes is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not personalized investment, tax, or financial advice, and it should not be treated as a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
All investing carries risk, including the possible loss of principal. Dividends are not guaranteed — a company can reduce or eliminate its dividend at any time. Past performance never guarantees future results. Specific companies named in our guides are mentioned to illustrate concepts, not to endorse them.
Before making investment decisions, consult a qualified financial or tax professional who knows your full situation. DivTrkr is a tracking tool and an educational resource — not a registered investment advisor.
